Frequently Asked Questions:

1. I'm leaving on vacation soon. When should I schedule my Meet & Greet? How soon wilI I get a response?

We recommend that new clients contact us at least two weeks prior to their trip to avoid being disappointed if we are booked.  This allows us time to coordinate and schedule your Meet & Greet, create a secure account for you in our Client Portal and arrange a Key Exchange, if required.  The most efficient and preferred method to get in touch with us is to submit our contact form.  Please fill out all the required information so that we may respond with our availability.  Contact Us!   Please use this for kitty care visit requests or for general questions.  We respond to these requests within 24 hours.  We respond to voicemails and texts within 48 hours.  As you can understand, we are not able to schedule a Meet & Greet without first knowing the dates of your trip.  Please firm up your dates of travel prior to requesting a meeting.

2. What kitty care services do you offer? Can my kitty stay with you? Do you administer kitty medication?  
3. What are your hours? Can I choose a specific time for my kitty visits?

Virtual Meet & Greets are scheduled Monday to Friday and Weekends between 2 pm - 6 pm.  Scheduling at a precise time for pet sitting is not always possible however we will do our best to accommodate your needs.  We are able to schedule in intervals and have morning appointments between 6 am - 12 pm and afternoon appointments between 12 pm - 5 pm.  Misty Blue Kitty Care will visit at the requested times and intervals as closely as possible.  However, if an unforeseen situation arises, the time may be adjusted.

Misty Blue Kitty Care has the necessary qualifications, experience and abilities to assist and benefit you by providing the following pet sitting services:  in your own home kitty care.  ​We do not administer medication or board cats at our location

​Daily cat sitting kitty care visit includes:  feeding, fresh water, wash and change out of bowls, litter scooping, litter top up, clean any visible kitty accidents or mess around the home, brushing, kitty cuddles, kitty socializing, interactive playtime and lots of exercise!  Each visit also includes a kitty report card with daily observations of your kitty with pictures to kitty parents.  We also include mail/newspaper pick up.  

4. What is the minimal kitty visits required? Can you visit my kitty every other day?

We require a minimum of one kitty visit each day you are away.  This ensures that a visual safety check of your kitty and home can be completed daily.  We want to make sure that we have eyes on your kitty every day and can verify that they are in good health and spirits.  As kitty lovers, we all know how easy it is for a kitty to hide an illness and as kitty lovers; we know the mischief a kitty can get into.  A daily kitty visit ensures your kitty didn’t lose access to their water by rolling a favourite mouse toy in their bowl and absorbing all the liquid.

5. How does the Kitty Consultant get the keys to my property?

Misty Blue Kitty Care uses a lock box for key management.  We require 2 keys to be placed in the lock box for every kitty care visit.  A lock box has many advantages and we feel provides the best case scenario when it comes to reducing the risk of lost keys. You may purchase a lock box of your choice for approximately $35-80 at Home Depot, Lowes or Amazon.  In addition, for those Clients in condos with 24 hour concierge services, we may also establish a 2 key pick up and drop off system with your written authorization via your concierge or building security.  We may also do a key exchange and we will pick up and drop off your keys at your home for a fee of $20 plus HST each time you request kitty care visits.    

6. Which areas do you service?

We service Mississauga & Etobicoke.  Borders are approximately:  East of Dixie Rd, South of Eglinton Ave, West of Jane St and North of Lakeshore Blvd.  See  Service Area Map for further details.

7. What if my kitty gets sick while in your care and I am away?

We are here for you!  Our Kitty Consultant is First Aid Certified in kitty safety by Walks ‘N Wags who specializes in Pet First Aid.  We have been trained in many areas including:  animal CPR, poison control, identifying symptoms of parasites, proper emergency restraint and transportation of an injured kitty.  Prior to your Meet & Greet Misty Blue Kitty Care will obtain a Veterinarian Medical Release via our Portal Policy that allows your cat sitter to act on your behalf and transport your injured kitty to your Veterinarian in the event of their illness or injury and authorize treatment deemed necessary by the Veterinarian.  Misty Blue Kitty Care will make every attempt to contact the Client but if time is of the essence, the Client authorizes Misty Blue Kitty Care to seek medical services at the closest Veterinarian Hospital.  In the event the kitty is in need of hospitalization; Misty Blue Kitty Care is authorized to leave the kitty until they can be transported home.  If at home medication is prescribed, Misty Blue Kitty Care has the Client’s permission to administer the directed dosage.  The Client is responsible for all Veterinarian and emergency expenses and understands that Misty Blue Kitty Care will not lend money to cover the cost of any Veterinarian bills.  For emergency medical situations the compensation to Misty Blue Kitty Care will be on a per hour rate of $45 for the time spent attending to your emergency.

8. What if something happens to my home while I am away? Are you Insured and Bonded?

We are insured and bonded!  Misty Blue Kitty Care has insurance with Profur, Canada’s Only Specialized Insurance Provider for Pet Care Professionals.  Our coverage is for general liability, care of pets and property.  Our daily visual safety check ensures that we have eyes on your kitty and home every day you are away.  Prior to your Meet & Greet you will fill out your Client Info in our Client Portal/APP with important information about your home.  If a problem arises such as a pipe rupture, flooding, fire, break in etc, Misty Blue Kitty Care will make every attempt to contact the Client and follow their instructions.  If the Client cannot be reached, or immediate action is necessary for the health, safety and welfare of the kitty, the Client authorizes Misty Blue Kitty Care to make any repairs deemed necessary by Misty Blue Kitty Care.  The Client will hold Misty Blue Kitty Care blameless for work done by any contractor engaged in the repair.  For emergency home situations the compensation to Misty Blue Kitty Care will be based on a per hour rate of $45 for the time spent attending to your emergency.

9. When do I pay and what payment methods do you accept?

Payments shall be received in full on or before the initial start of the kitty care visit.  We accept cash, cash transfers, cheques, credit cards and paypal.  If paying by cash or cheque your full payment can be left in your home on the kitchen counter to be picked up by your pet sitter during the first day of your kitty care service.  Please have exact cash and make any cheques payable to:  Misty Blue Kitty Care.  If paying by cash transfer, credit card or paypal, an invoice will be e-mailed to you in advance and can be paid in full prior to the initial kitty care visit via secure on-line payment options.
